CHARACTER DRIVEN

In 1937, the John B. Stetson Company introduced a game-changing new style. Called The Open Road, it embodied the best of the city and country, and combined a traditional western crown with a shorter, town-friendly brim. What was once an innovation has become an icon, worn by Presidents, artists, outlaws, and trailblazers of all kinds—including Matt and Carrie Eddmenson, of imogene + willie, above—in the decades since.

The Open road Can be dressed up or down, worn with a t-shirt or a tuxedo. there’s a versatility to it. it’s got a foot in this classic western world and a foot in the more modern and urban world.

-JAKE MEUSER

“I get dressed up as a sign of respect to my fellow human, but more importantly as a sign of respect to myself… The Open Road is a great hat for me because a lot of my personal work is this juxtaposition between being in the city and being out in nature.”

-JAMES PERKINS

“My grandfather always wore an Open Road to church. So to me, the Open Road was always the dress version of a cowboy hat. It has a cattleman’s crease and a conservative brim, so you’re not showing off.”

-LYLE LOVETT
