CHARACTER DRIVEN

In 1937, the John B. Stetson Company introduced a game-changing new style. Called The Open Road, it embodied the best of the city and country, and combined a traditional western crown with a shorter, town-friendly brim. In the decades since, what was once an innovation has become an icon, worn by Presidents, artists, outlaws, and trailblazers of all kinds in the decades since.

“I get dressed up as a sign of respect to my fellow human, but more importantly as a sign of respect to myself… The Open Road is a great hat for me because a lot of my personal work is this juxtaposition between being in the city and being out in nature.”

-JAMES PERKINS

“My grandfather always wore an Open Road to church. So to me, the Open Road was always the dress version of a cowboy hat. It has a cattleman’s crease and a conservative brim, so you’re not showing off.”

-LYLE LOVETT

THE OPEN ROAD 6X

Handcrafted in our proprietary 6X quality fur felt, the most popular version of the iconic Open Road represents the ultimate mix of Western heritage and modern versatility.

THE OPEN ROAD ROYAL DELUXE

With its lighter weight, supple feel and flexible finish, the Royal Deluxe is a slightly dressier alternative to the stiff, substantial 6X and features a brim that can be snapped up or down.

“Nothing compares to the touch of our hands. To work with your hands, to make beautiful things—if you don’t keep standards high, if they disappear, who’s going to tell the story?”

-HELIO ASCARI
